Open Eye Art Gallery
A safe and supportive place where a community of artists can thrive through the visual arts.
About the gallery
The Open Eye Gallery at Arundel Lodge was established to provide a safe and supportive environment where a community of artists can thrive through the visual arts. The artists of the Open Eye Gallery (OEG) are clients of Arundel Lodge who live with mental health disorders. The Studio Program and OEG are integral parts of Arundel Lodge’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program, which aims to support clients in a social, nurturing, and encouraging atmosphere by offering opportunities for creative expression.
Artwork created in the Studio Program is showcased in galleries throughout the region and in Arundel Lodge’s own Open Eye Gallery. Arundel Lodge artists are encouraged to explore their artistic passions and gain the confidence to produce expressive works that reflect their inner experiences. Participants often report that these activities help them grow, cope with trauma, and contribute to their overall recovery.
Sales from the Open Eye Gallery directly benefit the artists, providing them with income opportunities and access to ample art materials. Artists retain 80% of the proceeds from their sold artwork, which helps supplement their income, while the remaining 20% is reinvested into the program to replenish supplies.
