Since 1975

Our History

Founded by families in 1975, Arundel Lodge has grown into one of the region’s most respected integrated behavioral healthcare organizations.

Arundel Lodge was founded in 1975 by a group of dedicated parents who recognized the urgent need for community-based support for their adult children living with behavioral health disorders. At the time, many individuals were being released from state psychiatric hospitals without adequate long-term community care or resources.

What began as a grassroots effort to provide support and stability has grown into one of the region’s most respected integrated behavioral healthcare organizations. Today, Arundel Lodge serves more than 3,000 individuals each year throughout Anne Arundel County and surrounding communities.

As a CARF-accredited organization and recognized Center for Excellence in Recovery, we remain committed to the Recovery Model — an approach that emphasizes hope, dignity, respect, and empowerment. We believe recovery looks different for every person, and we strive to honor each individual’s strengths, goals, interests, and personal choices throughout treatment.

Through therapy, medication management, substance use treatment, supportive housing, employment support, urgent care services, and community-based programs, Arundel Lodge continues to provide compassionate, person-centered care that helps individuals reconnect with their communities and build meaningful lives.

50 Years of Hope

In January 2025, Arundel Lodge celebrated 50 Years of Hope with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & 50th Anniversary Kickoff at our Edgewater campus, followed by the Golden Anniversary Gala in June 2025.
