Michael Drummond, LCSW, Executive Director

Mike Drummond is a graduate of Georgetown University and University of Maryland. He has directed psychiatry and case management programs  for various Maryland hospitals and has served as Director of the local mental health authority of Harford County, where he was instrumental in the development of Mental Health Court, tripled the number of Shelter Plus Care housing units for homeless individuals with mental illness and increased the availability of children’s mental health services. Mike has been Executive Director of Arundel Lodge since 2007. Under his direction, Arundel Lodge established an Evidence-based Supported Employment Program, an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and has been designated a Center of Excellence in Recovery Programming.

 Jim Buckey

Jim Buckey, CPA Chief Financial Officer

Jim is a graduate of Loyola University – Maryland with a BA in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.  After 10 busy tax seasons in Public Accounting, Jim decided he wanted his winters back and took a position as a Controller/CFO for a large Mental Health provider in Baltimore County. Since then Jim has worked as a Chief Financial Officer for a private school and a child welfare agency. He has also served in the US Army Reserves where he retired as a Medical Logistics Officer for a Combat Support Hospital. He brings to Arundel Lodge more than 28 years of experience in the nonprofit world. Both Jim and his wife are lifelong residents of Anne Arundel County where they have raised their four talented children.

Lillie

Lillie Hinkelman, LCSW-C, Chief of Clinical Operations

Lillie Hinkelman received her Master in Social Work from East Carolina University. She has more than 16 years of experience in the field of mental health and substance use disorder treatment, including inpatient, outpatient and residential treatment, with a wide variety of populations including children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Before moving to Maryland from Texas, Ms. Hinkelman was President and owner of Advanced Psych Solutions, Inc., a private practice outpatient clinic focused on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress, psychotic disorders and substance use disorders. She has also served as Director of Clinical Services at Glen Oaks Psychiatric Hospital in Texas and Lead Care Manager of Deployment Support Social Work at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, where she developed a new healthcare program mandated by the Army Surgeon General to provide direct and indirect services to Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard Soldiers and their families. As Director of Outpatient Services/Psychotherapist at NCED Mental Health Center Lillie coordinated the substance use intensive outpatients programs for youth and adults; she facilitated patient’s continuity of care; and she provided psychiatric services.

Leigh Ragan, Clinic Director

Leigh Ragan graduated from Florida State University in 1979 with a BS in Criminology. Her career began as Program Director with San Antonio Boys, a group home for troubled teens. Leigh continued her work with adolescents in substance use, and obtained her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 1991. She moved from Florida to Maryland to work as Clinical Director of inpatient and outpatient services at New Beginnings Meadows and later served as Director of the Substance Abuse Program at Pathfinders, an outpatient mental health and substance use clinical practice.

Throughout her career, Leigh has proven to be a leader in her field. In 1999, she opened First Step Recovery Center, a substance use treatment center, with then business partner, Mary Helen Gibson. She has served as a consultant to Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency; Chaired the County Training Co-occurring Disorders and the Change Agent and Steering Committees for integration of behavioral health; and has been involved with Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, serving as Chair of the Recovery Walk, an annual event, whose mission is to de-stigmatize addiction and mental health and to show that recovery is a reality.

Kathy

Kathy Farrell, Director of Rehabilitation Program

Kathy Farrell is a graduate of University of Maryland Baltimore County where she received her BA degree and double majored in Psychology and Social Work. Kathy is also a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. Before coming to Arundel Lodge, Kathy interned at Springfield Hospital Center for Social Work and worked for an adolescent group home for children diagnosed with autism. Kathy started at Arundel Lodge over 20 years ago as a member of the Direct Care Staff, and is now Director of Rehabilitation Program. “I love what I do. I enjoy being in this field and working with people who want to take control of their recovery and overall wellness,” she says.  “Arundel Lodge is also family oriented and has been a great company to work for. The staff and persons served are supportive of one another and my hope is that Arundel Lodge can continue to provide quality programs that will encourage persons served to live the best life possible.”

Lisa Hughes, Director of Residential Program

Lisa Hughes is a graduate of Towson University where she received her BA degree in Psychology. Before coming to Arundel Lodge, Lisa interned at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital as a Volunteer Intern. Lisa started at Arundel Lodge over 20 years ago as a member of the Direct Care Staff, and is now Director of Residential Program and IT Director.  “I always had a passion for helping people. What we do here is help others do the things that we take for granted. Sometimes we have our own ideas of what ‘normal’ should look like, but our persons served surpass that and flourish in their own way. I love that.”

Laura

Laura Murphy, Director of Human Resources

Laura Murphy has been in Human Resources for 20 years, ten of them at Arundel Lodge. Her hope for the future of Arundel Lodge is that “we can continue providing quality services to the individuals we serve.” Her philosophy on philanthropy is that “Every penny counts!” Laura is married with two children and a “big dog!.” She enjoys reading and visiting with family and friends and believes it’s important to “enjoy life, and take time to be still.”

Tanya

Tanya St. John, Director of Development

Tanya St. John is a graduate of Villanova University and has a BA degree in Communications. Her background includes work as an Account Executive and Promotions Director in advertising and direct mail marketing. She also taught Spanish for six years in Florida. After moving to Maryland in 2012, Tanya worked as a Bilingual Family and Community Outreach Facilitator with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. She came to Arundel Lodge because she was interested in applying her varied experience and skills in a non-profit setting that makes a difference locally. She says, “My children are growing up in this community and my husband and I plan to live here a long time. Our ability to thrive here is dependent upon the health and wellness of the community as a whole, so to be a part of something that contributes to that is important to me and makes me proud.”

PeterPalmquist

Peter Palmquist, Facilities Director

Prior to moving to Maryland, Peter was Director of Engineering at a Marriott Hotel in Pennsylvania and owned a construction company in New England, specializing in historic renovation. Peter is married, has 3 grown sons and three dogs. He is dedicated to Arundel Lodge’s work and says, “Life is stressful and for those with mental health issues and their families, there can be unimaginable stress. I hope that through my experience and expertise, I can make the lives of the persons we serve more honorable, comfortable and efficient. Arundel Lodge is doing amazing work in the behavioral health space, teaching skills and techniques that encourage matriculation into a life of independence and pride. It’s a wonderful philosophy, and one that I am very proud to be a part of.”
