Arundel Lodge offers three levels of care for substance use treatment through First Step Recovery Center : Early Intervention, Outpatient, and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) . The IOP has a minimum weekly attendance requirement of 9 hours. The intensity of the treatment is due to a higher level of addiction which requires additional support. Treatment for all levels of care consists of attending group counseling sessions.
Evidence indicates that group counseling is beneficial in helping people with substance use disorders learn coping skills and relapse-prevention skills. Peer interaction can also help prevent feelings of isolation that can contribute to relapse. Arundel Lodge offers evening and day groups to accommodate varying lifestyles.
Though treatment is done in a group settings, services are individualized and person centered, which means that individuals receiving treatment are involved in their own treatment planning. Together, the substance use counselor and the person served develop goals, objectives, and a treatment plan that addresses the strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences of the person served.
Arundel Lodge also provides case management to connect clients with additional needed resources in the community, such as housing or even higher levels of care, such as detox.
When a community member decides to enter treatment, they can access services for the first time, on a walk-in basis, through Same Day Access. Upon visiting Arundel Lodge, they will receive a psychiatric assessment and evaluation to determine the level of care recommended.
First Step Recovery Center services are offered at 1419 Forest Dr. in Annapolis, where Arundel Lodge also has a second Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Both offices offer Same Day Access for assessment and evaluations, Monday through Friday, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
