MISSION: To partner with individuals and families to improve behavioral health through recovery-oriented services.
Arundel Lodge is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that works toward a world where behavioral health disorders are not a limit to achieving a meaningful life in the community.
One in four Americans will experience a behavioral health disorder in any given year regardless of age, race, religion, gender or economic status. Behavioral health disorders can range from depression and anxiety to bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and much in between.
At Arundel Lodge we help men, women, children and adolescents living with behavioral health disorders maintain their dignity and enter into the process of recovery. We support individuals in their quest to stay healthy, find jobs, participate in their community, locate appropriate resources, and enjoy life like anyone else might. Most of all, at Arundel Lodge, we provide a place where individuals can feel welcomed, empowered, and trusted to make their own decisions.
Thank you for the wonderful care you give M. and all the other clients at Arundel Lodge. You are such a blessing to so many families – because of you we all sleep better at night knowing our loved ones are in good hands. -Veronica B.
Arundel Lodge Receives a Fundraising Challenge!
Beverly and Stephen Marcus of Edgewater, MD have offered Arundel Lodge Behavioral Health a matching donation of $50,000 for funds raised for a Children and Adolescents Behavioral Health Center to be created at Arundel Lodge’s main campus. Beverly is a retired Certified and Licensed Master Social Worker who advocates for mental health education and early intervention services for children and families, and her husband Stephen operates the family business, Best Tile Distributors, Inc.
I was excited to learn of plans by Mike Drummond, Executive Director of Arundel Lodge, to open a Children and Adolescents Center,” says Beverly. “I was impressed by Mike’s passion, achievements, and ability to provide innovative services. I knew I wanted to contribute to the clinic’s establishment and success.
The new Children and Adolescents Behavioral Health Center will fill a longstanding void in Anne Arundel County for treatment to this under-served population and will include two play therapy rooms. A total of $355,000 is needed to fully fund the project.
Beverly and Stephen Marcus kicked off the Arundel Lodge matching gift challenge with a fundraiser on September 30 at their beautiful home on the South River.
More than 85 guests attended the event and Arundel Lodge has so far raised nearly $35,000 toward the $50,000 match challenge. Help us reach our $50,000 goal. Click on the DONATE button NOW!
Arundel Lodge Merges with First Step Recovery Center
According to the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS), about 45% of Americans seeking substance use disorder treatment have been diagnosed as having a co-occurring mental and substance use disorder. Conversely, people diagnosed with a mental health disorder are more likely to experience a problem with substance use. As a result, Arundel Lodge, which provides mental health treatment, has worked closely over the years with First Step Recovery Center which provides substance use treatment.
Recently, Arundel Lodge and First Step Recovery Center took their partnership to the next level and formalized plans for a merger, a move which aligns with the federal government’s plans for mental and behavioral health integration. Final details are being worked out.
I am excited about the merger. I have wanted integration of care for my clients for several years. When Mike [Drummond] approached me with the idea of merging, it did not take me long to say yes. This merger will be good for our clients and positive for our community. The individuals we serve will be able to access care in one place. They will no longer have to figure out how they will have to catch a bus or ask for a ride to get to treatment for their mental health and substance use.” says Leigh Ragan, co-founder of First Step Recovery Center, Inc.
